About Fay Lewis

Uncategorized

Fay Lewis is a renowned South African-born culinary professional, currently living in Boston, with 3 award-winning cookbooks, a weekly newspaper column, and many feature articles to her credit.

Fay has a classical food science background, which she has applied to a variety of professional roles over her 30 year career: speaking, writing and promoting her columns and books, doing demonstrations and media appearances, as food stylist, as representative of the South African Meat Board, and in various roles where she has had the privilege of sharing her knowledge with others, as a lecturer and educator.

Her mission is to inspire others to become more successful, confident home cooks.

Her philosophy of food can be summarized easily:

  • Emphasis on quality rather than quantity.
  • Simple dishes that rely on seasonal ingredients that are fresh and locally sourced rather than imported.
  • Casual and uncomplicated entertaining, made as enjoyable for the host as for the guest through good planning, the right menus, and recipes that work.
  • There is no reason for cooking or entertaining to be intimidating! Recipes should be foolproof, delicious, and easy to do.
  • There is nothing better than bringing people together through food — sharing experiences around the table, with those we love.

Entertaining has been an integral part of Fay’s life, and she loves to share her knowledge and love of food with others through her books and lectures, and by writing, demonstrating and presenting on the topic.
